As of Thursday, a boil water advisory was issued due to low water pressure detected near the areas of U.S. 441 and Northwest 24th Street in Lauderhill.
Officials state that the low water pressure could cause problems to the quality of drinking water in the areas.
According to Sun Sentinel, 6,5o0 customers in Broward County and four other cities are being affected by this.
Alan Garcia, water and wastewater services director, states to Sun Sentinel,”We are investigating a valve that apparently had been partially or fully closed at some time during previous day but have no idea who might have closed it.”
The following areas are currently advised to boil their water:
- Lauderhill subdivisions that include Broward Estates, St. George, and West Ken Lark
- Lauderdale Lakes’ neighborhoods that include East Gate and Sunset Hills
- Fort Lauderdale’s Melrose Park West and Rock Island neighborhoods
- Plantation between U.S. 441 and Southwest 39th Avenue, and from Broward Boulevard to Southwest Eighth Street
- Broward County’s Broadview Park
Officials urge residents and businesses in these areas to boil water used for cooking, drinking, and other hygienic purposes.
You may boil the water for one minute in order to ensure cleanliness.
The notice will continue to remain in effect until a bacteriological survey establishes the water as safe to drink.
