According to WPTV, Spanish River could be expecting a new principal by the beginning of the approaching school year. Due to Principal William Latson’s failure to address the holocaust as a historical fact, the District has begun an investigation.

A letter sent to Spanish River parents by Regional Superintendent, Dr. Peter Licata, discussed the process of replacing Latson. District administrators met with school staff and parents to discuss what qualities and characteristics they value most when considering the candidates for principal.

Current principal of Omni Middle School, Allison Castellano, is being considered to replace William Latson as principal of Spanish River High School. Castellano is more than qualified for the job due to her current position at an A-rated, Boca Raton Middle School. Spanish River holds a special place in Castellano’s heart, as she is a former graduate.

The school board is said to be voting on the superintendent’s recommendation of Allison Castellano tomorrow, July 24.

While still awaiting board approval, Castellano’s start date as Spanish River principal would be on Thursday, July 25.
