The Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital held its 8th annual “Run for the Ribbons 5K and One-Mile Run/Walk.” The event, which attracted over 1,200 registrants, was staged at the Sandler Pavilion at the Lynn Cancer Institute. The 5K route passed through Old Floresta, Boca Raton’s most picturesque historic neighborhood.

Proceeds from the event have been earmarked for the support of patients through special programs of the Lynn Cancer Institute’s League of Ribbons.

Cancer patients have many unique care issues that go beyond treatment. The League supports the non-clinical needs and challenges patients and their families often encounter, such as providing for groceries and gas for those facing financial hardships, health and wellness programs for patients and the community-at-large, as well as guided imagery and yoga and massage therapy for cancer patients in treatment.

Congratulations to event chair, Jan Dymtrow, and the many volunteers who have grown this event over the last 8 years.

One of the Soroptimist of Boca Raton’s missions includes providing grants to local non-profit organizations in need of financial support for specific projects and on Tuesday morning 26 different agencies were awarded a grant.

Since the founding of the first Soroptimist club, in Oakland, California in 1921, Soroptimist International has sought to bring about change to the lives of women and girls worldwide. Its mission is to transform lives through education, empowerment and by enabling opportunities women and girls will achieve through their individual and collective potential.

The advocacy of the Soroptimists seeks to drive the realization of these aspirations and ensure women and girls an equal voice in creating strong and peaceful communities, now and in the future.

There are over 40,000 members of Soroptimist International in over 1400 clubs in over 19 countries.

It was a night to meet and mingle at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. A perfect venue to celebrate the opening of a new Boca Raton office of the Law Offices of Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith, PLLC. Gary Lesser proudly announced the Boca office is the firm’s 4th location, in the Sanctuary Building, with offices also in West Palm Beach, Stuart and Wellington.

The firm of Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith has been serving the legal needs of residents throughout Florida for well over nine decades, ever since Joseph Lesser opened the firm’s first office in West Palm Beach in 1927. For more than 90 years, the firm has followed in his footsteps of practicing law with the highest level of professionalism, dedication, commitment to client services, as well as,community concerns.

The FIRST 2019 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl South County Community Captains meeting was held Thursday evening. Although 6 months away, the committee is already focused on making this Bowl game the best yet!

After spending five years on the Tuesday evening before Christmas and being aired on ESPN, the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl will be in a different place on the calendar and dial this year. The 2019 edition will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 21, and will be televised on ABC.

The 2019 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl will select its two participating teams from its three partner conferences:  Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference and the American Athletic Conference. The bowl week activities will include beach parties, pep rallies, a kickoff luncheon, community outreach and other activities throughout Boca Raton and Palm Beach County.

Friday evening the 2019 Palm Beach County Annual Awards Ceremony was held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

Our residents can be proud of the caliber and courage of our first responders. When most of us are running away from peril, they are running towards the danger to protect life and property.

Our crews ran 135,647 calls last year — including 117,371 EMS calls, 17,138 “other” calls and 1,138 structure fire calls.

PBCFR dispatched 203,819 calls for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and 13 additional municipalities.

PBCFR is committed to assuring the residents, guests, and visitors in our community a secure and superior quality of life.

This is accomplished by maintaining the highest state of readiness, dedication, and compassion in order to minimize emotional, physical, and economic loss.

Empathy toward human suffering requires special individuals who realize the importance of their unselfish contribution and personal commitment to the welfare of the team and community.

The PBCFR personnel are committed to making a difference by creating an atmosphere of teamwork and fellowship while recognizing the individual attributes and responding to the needs of each other.

Saturday was a festive celebration of Hispanic Heritage as the YMCA hosted the 3rd Annual Baila Conmigo event. Baila Congmigo literally means “dance with me.”

The beauty of the Hispanic culture was experienced through music, food, dance, and art.

Sunday afternoon we joined “Fearless” Franny Nachlas in her quest to win Boca’s Ballroom Battle by raising the most money to support future scholars through the George Snow Foundation. The Fund is dedicated to helping deserving students within the community achieve their career goals through their pursuit of higher education.

Fran is one of eight prominent community leaders who have accepted the invitation to compete in a ballroom dance and fundraising competition. Paired with professional dancers from Fred Astaire Dance Studios, the community dancers will be given a series of danced lessons to perfect a routine and then compete for the grand prize. The final event will be held on Friday, September 20^th at the Boca Raton Resort & Club.

The Florida Chapter of the Country Club Manager’s Association of America is comprised of 5 regions.  Sunday evening the Seminole Region held the gala dinner which preceded the golf tournament on Monday, June 10^th. The two-day event benefited Special Olympics of Palm Beach County, Toys for Tots and SOS Children’s Village, the George Snow Scholarship Fund and Unicorn Children’s Foundation. Last year the event raised over $500,000 for these fine local Charities.

The 9th Annual Father’s Day Classic Car Show will, again, be held at Mizner Park (327 Plaza Real Boca Raton FL) on Sunday June 16^th from 9AM – 3PM

The Father’s Day Classic Car Show has grown into a South Florida Tradition and a great way to celebrate dad. The event is fun for the whole family! It’s all there: Car Show, Music, Shopping, Restaurants, Children’s Activity Area, Free Parking, Free Fun.
