Eighth Annual Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches’ Better Ball Invitational Golf Tournament Raises Over $150,000

Boca Raton, FL – The rain held off so the golfers could get in 9 holes during Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches’ Eighth Annual Better Ball Invitational Golf Tournament. The sold-out event, which took place on Friday, May 3, 2019, at the Jack Nicklaus designed Banyan Cay Resort & Golf in West Palm Beach, supports the organization’s efforts to help families in crisis return to stability.

“We had a big 2018,” shared Matthew Constantine, CEO of Adopt-A-Family. “We broke ground on our new housing project in Lake Worth, we celebrated a number of milestones as an organization, and most-importantly, thanks to so much community support, we were able to work with over 2,000 families. A huge thank you to our committee, the sponsors, the players, and Banyan Cay. Year after year, our dedicated supporters make this tournament a huge success.”

The one-stroke play, better ball tournament raised over $150,000 for the organization who directly helped over 2,721 families by ending or preventing episodes of homelessness.  In the last fiscal year, the agency’s Project Grow afterschool program had a 98% success rate of students promoted to the next grade level – far exceeding the local and national average, and Adopt-A-Family achieved its 12th consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, a distinction less than 1% of nonprofits rate nationally.

Players John Apgar and Joby Slay were the winning twosome.

Tournament sponsors included: North American Development Group, The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company, Frank & Sean Bresnan, Michele & Howard Kessler, and David Lambert. These generous sponsorships not only make the tournament possible, but also build Adopt-A-Family’s operating funds for the agency’s many programs. Proceeds from this tournament support Adopt-A-Family’s ongoing efforts to help families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless return to self-sufficiency. Committee members for this event include: Frank Bresnan, Sean Bresnan, Jeff Preston, Joe Carron, Tom Frankel, Ned Grace, Joe LaRocca Jr, Gary Pohrer, and Matt Constantine.
