Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Drafts Team of Bowl Partners To Help Build A Safe, Decent and Affordable Habitat Home In South Palm Beach County

Creating the opportunity to give back to the Palm Beach County community in which the annual collegiate bowl game is played, the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl drafted more than 40 Bowl Partner executives and employees to help build a safe, decent and affordable home for a local, hard-working, low-income Habitat Partner Family.

HFHPSPC Director of Construction Jeff Fengler, with Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Partners GL Homes President Misha Ezratti, 2017 Cheribunid Boca Raton Bowl Champion: FAU Running Back Gerald Hearns, Crocker Partners Managing Partner Angelo Bianco.

Collectively working to transform their community with an inspiring “hand up, not a hand out”, the Bowl Partner Builders hailed from Tire Kingdom, Crocker Partners and GL Homes. They, along with 2017 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Champion FAU Running Back Gerald Hearns raised hammers and wielded power tools in carpentry-related work. Together they installed window boxes and windows and completed a range of interior finishing work on the future home for Ilomane, a housekeeper at Abbey Delray South senior living community, and her daughter Jessie, an oncology nurse at Delray Medical Center.

The Bowl Partner Builders’ dedication, hands-on construction and team-spirited camaraderie

helped to break the challenging poverty cycle one family at a time, making an indelible impact on the community. Among the Partner Builders were: Crocker Partners Managing Partner Angelo Bianco, GL Homes President Misha Ezratti, Tire Kingdom executives, ESPN radio personalities Brian Rowitz, producer and contributor of Josh Cohen & The HomeTeam and Jordan Sherwood, host of The Main Event. Bowl Partners Coca-Cola provided beverages, Chick-fil-A provided breakfast and Caesar’s Famous Ribs & BBQ that was recently tapped as the official BBQ vendor of this year’s Super Bowl provided lunch.

“Trailblazers in their industries, our Bowl Partners recognize that sustainable community growth begins with a stable home foundation for families and children, and thus welcomed the opportunity to team up in our Partner Build,” shared Executive Director of the Boca Raton Bowl Doug Mosley who also serves as a HFHSPBC board member. “They understand the importance of building communities from the ground up, just as they are building their companies. This is further evidenced by their embrace of and investment in the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl, Palm Beach County’s only collegiate bowl that annually shines a national spotlight on where they and their employees live, work and play.”

A STRONG COLLEGIATE FOOTBALL CONNECTION WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
When Habitat homeowners earn their homes through sweat equity programs and qualifying for interest-free mortgages, it changes the trajectory of entire families for generations because they are the first in their family line to achieve homeownership and be in a position to contribute back to their community.

2017 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Champion: FAU Running Back Gerald Hearns addresses the Partner Builders as they start their morning doing carpentry-related work, installing window boxes and windows, assisting with interior finishings.

Statistics have proven that children who grow up in Habitat homes have a better chance to build successes in their lives.  The collegiate football tradition and spirit of the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl brings to mind Deshaun Watson, the former Clemson University quarterback, two-time Heisman Trophy finalist and now Houston Texans Quarterback who grew up in Gainesville, Ga. in a Habitat home.

The Crocker Partners Team

“We thank the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl for introducing its partners to Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County in an engaging experiential way,” said Randy Nobles, CEO & President of HFHSPBC, a 501(c)(3) organization that brings people together to build homes, community and hope in the cities of Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Boynton Beach, Florida. The nonprofit depends upon volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money, materials, services and property to fulfill its mission.
