It Takes A Village — 70+ County Agencies Partner to Ensure that Over 17,000 Underprivileged Children Receive Backpacks, School Supplies, Physicals & Haircuts

Boca Raton, FL – Friends of Foster Children, the lead agency for the Palm Beach County Back to School BASH, partners with Palm Beach County’s Office of Community Revitalization, Children’s Services Council, United Way and over 70 other non-profit agencies with over 500 volunteers.

Over 17,000 underprivileged children in Palm Beach County will be able to start the 2019/2020 school
year with all the necessary supplies and resources due to the collaborative effort put forth.

The BASH exists solely to provide children the tools they need to succeed in school. According to the
National Retail Federation, it costs the average family over $700 to send a child back to school with the
supplies needed. This is a struggle for many families in South Florida. The BASH makes is possible for
every child to have a successful start. The BASH is held concurrently at 5 different locations across the
county. Each child is paired with a volunteer “shopping buddy” to pick out their own backpacks, school
supplies, receive school physicals and a haircut. In addition, parents can register for valuable resources
that can be utilized all year long.

Donations for purchasing supplies and sponsorship opportunities are still available. All media is invited
to attend each location of the Palm Beach County Back to School BASH.
