Calusa Elementary Hosts St. Baldrick’s Foundation Head-Shaving Event to Raise Funds for Childhood Cancer Research

With a goal to raise $75,000, more than 70 local volunteers will go bald

Boca Raton, FL – Calusa Elementary in Boca Raton, Fla., will host a St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event to raise funds and awareness for lifesaving childhood cancer research on Friday, May 24. With a goal to raise $75,000, more than 70 local volunteers will go bald to support the Foundation’s mission to take childhood back from cancer.

Since 2008, the community of Calusa Elementary has raised over $440,000 and shaved over 640 heads for childhood cancer research. Among the shavees, was Calusa Elementary PE Coach Scott Johnson, who passed away suddenly due to a heart attack. To honor Scott and his love for this event, Scott’s two daughters and nieces will be cutting their hair, and his two nephews will go bald to help raise money for childhood cancer research.

For more information, check out the Calusa Elementary event page.

One in five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. Those who do survive often suffer long-term effects from treatment too harsh for their developing bodies. As the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, St. Baldrick’s Foundation is leading the charge to take childhood back from cancer.Join the fight. Register. Fundraise. Show-up. Shave. You can help save kids’ lives.
