YMCA of South Palm Beach County Inspiration Breakfast to Feature Five-Time Olympic Swimmer and 12-Time Medalist, Dara Torres as Keynote Speaker

Annual event to be hosted at Office Depot Global Headquarters

Boca Raton, FL – Save the date for the 17th annual YMCA of South Palm Beach County Inspiration Breakfast on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:30 a.m. The event – the Y’s largest fundraiser of the year – will be one of encouragement and motivation and will feature five-time Olympic swimmer and 12-time medalist Dara Torres as keynote speakerThe purpose is to raise funds for the Y’s Drowning Prevention Initiatives and financial assistance program which provides everyone, regardless of income, the ability to participate in valuable, life-changing YMCA programs.

“The YMCA of South Palm Beach County is extremely honored to host Olympic Icon, Dara Torres, as this year’s keynote speaker, as she will share words of motivation and perseverance from her decorated career,” said Jason Hagensick, President and CEO of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County. “Her incredible strength, endurance and dedication to health and fitness makes her an exemplary portrayal of the Y’s three pillars of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.”

Olympic Icon Dara Torres is considered one of the greatest female competitive swimmers of all time. She entered her first international swimming competition at age 14 and competed in the Olympic Games five times winning a total of twelve medals. In 2014, Torres introduced her own health and fitness app sharing her gold medal workout secrets for fitness enthusiasts of all levels. She now travels the country as a motivational speaker and is a featured correspondent on “We Need to Talk” a Gracie Award-winning CBS Sports TV show made up of all-female panelists discussing the latest in sports news. Olympian, author, mother, and role model, Torres is many things to many people, but above all, she is an inspiration.

Offering its support for the sixth year in a row, BB&T will be this year’s Exclusive Presenting Title Sponsor. Rosie Inguanzo-Martin, president and CEO of Allegiance Home Health, will serve as this year’s Inspiration Breakfast Chair. Keeping with tradition, Office Depot Global Headquarters will be the Exclusive Diamond Sponsor, hosting the event for the fourth year in a row and Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton will be the Exclusive Donation Match Sponsor for the second year in a row.

The Inspiration Breakfast event gathers business and community leaders in support of the Y. Past featured keynote speakers include: Head Coach of the Miami Hurricane’s Mark Richt; Former Miami Dolphin Jason Taylor; Miami HEAT legend; Alonzo Mourning; Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee and Miami HEAT legend; Jim Kelly; Hall of Fame Quarterback and Buffalo Bills legend; U.S. Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller; Wally “Famous” Amos; Amway cofounder, Rich DeVos; and Orlando Magic owner and former Florida State University (FSU) football coach Bobby Bowden. The Y’s focus of furthering youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in community members of all ages is supported and funded by this rewarding event.
