Boca Library Hosts Storyteller Adam Booth

Boca Raton Public Library – Spanish River

Hosts Adam Booth In “Tall, Taller, Tallest”

In Brpl’s 2018 Story Central Series, “Discover Your Stories”

November 3, 2018, 3:30–5:00pm

Boca Raton, FL – Boca Raton Public Library continues its 2018 Story Central theme, “Discover Your Stories,” with a performance by professional storyteller, Adam Booth, at the Spanish River Library on November 3 at 3:30pm. Think you know tall tales? You haven’t heard Adam Booth! Forget Paul Bunyan and big fish stories. In “Tall, Taller Tallest,” Booth fuses personal experiences from Appalachia and beyond with keen imagination, blurring the lines between truth and fiction. His stories take listeners from laughter through tears to warmed hearts—and back. And wait till you hear his banjo playing!

Adam Booth’s storytelling blends traditional folklore, music, and an awareness of contemporary Appalachia. His original voice, both humorous and touching, is influenced by generations of diverse storytellers from West Virginia. He has been featured at the International Storytelling Center, the National Storytelling Festival, the National Storytelling Conference, the National Academy of Medicine, and the Banff Centre (Alberta, Canada). His recordings have received two Parents’ Choice Silver Honors and four Storytelling World Awards and Honors. He is a four-time champion of the West Virginia Liars’ Contest.

“This year’s Story Central series focuses on top-flight storytellers performing highly crafted stories from personal experience. Whether they are funny or sad or somewhere in-between, the performances reflect the Discover You @ BRPL 2018 initiative because they focus on authentic aspects of each individual, prompting audience members to ask: ‘What are my own stories?’” notes Story Central facilitator, Caren S. Neile, Ph.D., MFA. A performance storyteller and author, she has taught storytelling and writing for twenty-five years in universities and community settings. She currently teaches at Florida Atlantic University.
