FAU Celebrating 5th Anniversary of Annual Dance Marathon

BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 7, 2018) – Florida Atlantic University’s annual Dance Marathon fundraiser will be held on Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. in FAU’s Recreation and Fitness Center, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. The event, known as OwlThon, raises money and awareness for the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). Proceeds from the event will go directly to University of Florida’s Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville.

The theme of this year’s OwlThon is “Super Sweet Fifth Year”. Within the past 5 years OwlThon has quickly became one of the fastest growing dance marathon programs. In 2014 OwlThon raised $6,000 For The Kids, by our 4th year we raised over $242,000! Participants will dance on their feet for 13.1 hours, which is meant to give them a greater understanding of the struggles that children go through as they are treated for their illnesses at CMN hospitals.

The event will feature a bounce house, baby goats, mario kart with the miracle children, dodgeball tournament, different “theme hours” that students can dress up and dance to, and guest speakers including families of children that are being treated at Shands Children’s Hospital.

Only registered FAU students, faculty, staff and alumni can participate in the event, however, anyone can donate to the cause.

FAU is one of more than 300 schools across the country raising money for Children’s Miracle Network. To help us make miracles For The Kids visit fauowlthon.com and click the link to donate.
