Melbourne, Fla. – Dryden Brous and Collin McClelland of the Lynn University lacrosse team have been tabbed Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Brous is named the Specialist of the Week for the third consecutive selection and the fourth time this season. Brous and Tampa’s Sam Watts are the only players in the league to receive the award four times this year. He is also the first player in program history with four selections of any kind in a season.

Brous continues to get better and better as the season rolls along. He had another monster day at the faceoff X on Saturday, helping lift the Blue and White to a playoff-clinching 11-8 victory over Florida Southern in the regular-season finale. He went 15-of-20 (75%) on faceoffs, picked up a game-high eight ground balls and tallied his fourth assist in the last three games. Teammate Christopher Lasprogata tacked on a 2-for-3 effort as Lynn controlled the faceoff battle yet again, 17-6.

Over the final three games of the regular season, Brous is averaging 16 faceoff wins and just under nine groundballs per game. Brous’ dominant play at the X has helped the Fighting Knights win the faceoff battle in 11 of their 12 games this year.

McClelland came up big in between the pipes on Saturday to earn the first Defensive Player of the Week honor in his career. The freshman netminder played the full 60 minutes in the cage, matching his career-high with 16 saves along with two ground balls. His 66.7 save percentage also ties his career-best performance.

The Fighting Knights head to Tampa on Friday, April 28 for a 4 p.m. SSC Tournament semifinal matchup against Florida Tech.
