Livability.com’s third annual ranking of the best small to mid-sized cities in the US (which ranked more than 2,000 cities with populations between 20,000 and 350,000 to come up with their Top 100 Best Places to Live) rates the City of Boca Raton as #59! Of special note, they identify the “vibrant commercial district” in Downtown Boca giving residents and visitors “plenty of things to do.”
The U.S. Postal Service chose Boca Raton as the location that they would reveal their 2016 Hanukkah stamp. The postal service released the stamp during a ceremony Nov. 1 at Temple Beth El, a Reform congregation in Boca Raton celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Florida Atlantic University has named Dr. Phillip M Boiselle M.D.,, as the new dean of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. Boiselle, who currently serves as associate dean for academic and clinical affairs, and professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School, and is a member of the cardiothoracic imaging division at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, will assume his role as dean effective in January 2017.

Congratulations to Yvonne Boice on being honored with a companion medal during the Palm Beach Atlantic University’s American Free Enterprise Day. The Ceremony will be held on November 10. Since 1984, the event honors individuals whose hard work and achievements exemplify the best American free enterprise system.

Congratulations to the Chicago Cubs on defeating the Cleveland Indians in an epic seven-game series that saw the Cubs come back down from 3-1 to win their first World Series since 1908.
Boca Raton FC defeated Hurricanes FC last week in the qualifying rounds of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, to advance in the qualifying for the oldest soccer tournament in the United States. Boca Raton will now await to find out who they will play in March of 2017.
Boca gets its first Microsoft store in the county at 11 a.m. Nov. 3 with 100 gift cards worth $100 to $1,000 and the first 200 get a ticket to attend a meet and greet with retired Miami Dolphins Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino on Nov. 5. The 1,482 sq. ft. store is near Bloomingdales in the west central portion of Town Center. The store is one of only eight in Florida offering latest products, advise, trouble-shooting and repairs.
Theatre Lab, Florida Atlantic University’s professional theater company, recently hosted a VIP Pre-Season Celebration to showcase the completion of renovations of its intimate 99-seat Heckscher Stage, preview the coming season and introduce their Matching Gift Challenge to raise private support for this exciting university and community endeavor.
