With Continuing Partnership with Wayne Barton Study Center, Cox Media wins Award

Cox Media Group Miami recently won the service to community radio award. The award is given for amazing community outreach capabilities and Cox Media does exactly that by hosting many food drives in the community.

Cox Media Group is an integrated broadcasting, publishing, direct marketing and digital media company that includes the national advertising rep firms of CoxReps. The Miami-Fort Lauderdale DMA includes Miami-Dade and Broward Counties and is commonly referred to as “South Florida.”

For years, Cox Media Group Miami has held an annual turkey drive to help local families put turkey on the table each November.

Cox Miami not only helps on holidays, but by continuing partnership with the Wayne barton foundation and the Broward County Sheriff’s office for a food drive campaign every week of the year.

James Thomas, On-Air Talent with Cox Media Miami, says “It makes you feel good when you can go to a community and see people line up with baskets or bags so that they can get the food that they may need to only feed their family for a week or maybe even sometimes just for a day.”

Using their stations as a number one communicator, Cox Miami airs public service announcements about the drives and also use their air time to enlist volunteers each and every week.

“We hold about 36 [food drives] the whole year, we probably do way more than 3 million pounds of food. Each week we give over 100 pounds of food,” informs Lindsey Maestro Powell, Community Relations Manager for Cox Media Miami.

Rob Babin, VP and Market Manager for Cox Miami accepted the award by praising the leadership of Rodney Baltimore with Hot 105 and Maestro Powell. “This is the reason why we are here today. These two gentlemen dedicate their careers and their lives to utilizing our broadcast properties to serve our community.”
