This Saturday, Sea Star Initiative will hold their annual May Faire festival. While attendance is mandatory for early childhood and elementary students enrolled at the school, the invite is open to the entire community.

The festival will feature events for both children and adults, including games and crafts, a bake sale, a silent auction, and a maypole dance.

There will also be crafts and art available for purchase by vendors and artists at the festival.

Food Island Truck will be on site from 12 to 2 p.m., serving organic farm-to-table cuisine to hungry guests.

May Faire is a festival that celebrates the coming of Spring. It is commonly celebrated at schools utilizing Waldorf-style education systems, like Sea Star. Said to be the fastest growing independent education system, Waldorf schools feature “arts enriched” curriculums that “integrate the whole body and both hemispheres of the brain,” which according to the Sea Star, “enhances the focus required for academic study.”

The festival will be held at Sea Star’s campus at 251 SW 4th Ave, and will start at 10:45 a.m., continuing until 3:30 p.m.. Tickets for children under the age of 12 are $1 while tickets for those 12 and up are $3.
