BOCA RATON – A Lake Park man was arrested and charged following a recent armed robbery at an apartment on FAU’s campus.

Police charged Andre Delroy Chin Sang with six counts of strong-arm robbery with a firearm and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Boca Raton police say Chin Sang was with a group of men who robbed five students in the apartment at gunpoint on Jan. 13.
No one was injured in the robbery.

One of the alleged victims told police that he invited his friend, whom he knew as Drebo, or Dre, to join him and some friends at his apartment in the 600 block of NW. 13th St. The students were playing video games and watching Netflix, police said.

When Drebo, aka Chin Sang arrived, he brought two other men with him, according to the police report. The alleged victim told police that he did not know the other men and had a gut feeling that something was not right with them.

The 19-year old alleged victim said he allowed them inside his apartment anyhow.

Once inside the apartment, Chin Sang began acting nervous and paced back-and-forth along a narrow hallway, the student told police. Chin Sang went into the bathroom then left saying he was getting something from a car, according to the report. Chin Sang knew that the robbery was going to take place, police said.

While Chin Sang was outside, one of the men walked out of the kitchen with a handgun, grabbed one of the students by his t-shirt collar and stuck a gun to the right side of his head, police said. The suspect demanded everything and the students emptied their pockets on a coffee table police, police said. The second man put the students’ cellphones and wallets in a backpack and fled, police said.

Police used the “Find My iPhone” app to track one of the stolen phones to what was later determined to be Chin Sang’s Lake Park home, according to the report.
