Dr. Richard Staller, D.D.S. assists JARC

Advanced Dentistry South Florida, working in collaboration with a grant provided to the Palm Beach County Inter-agency Council for Persons with Developmental Disabilities will provide a free dental care day to clients at the Jewish Association for Residential Care (JARC). The “Caring Heart Day” is scheduled for Monday, August 17th and will connect persons with unique abilities with dental professionals.

Resources to assist this population are very limited and many times they go without routine dental services, which can lead to medical problems such as diabetes, respiratory problems, and even cardiovascular disease. In October 2013, a grant from the Allegany Franciscan Ministries and the Quantam Foundation was awarded to the Palm Beach County Developmental Disabilities Interagency Council to increase access to dental services for people with unique abilities called “Dental Home Initiative”.

The Caring Heart Day will be held from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Advanced Dentistry South Florida, 15340 Jog Road, Suite 100, Delray Beach, Florida. While this event will offer free dental services to clients of JARC, the funds from the Dental Home Initiative grant are used throughout the community to provide similar services to other entities assisting these residents.

Dr. Richard Staller, owner of Advanced Dentistry South Florida, Dr. Naved Fatmi, owner of Regency Court Dentistry in partnership with Palm Beach County Dental Hygiene Association will provide a pro-bono dental care to JARC clients at this event.

The overall goal of the grant is to develop a system of care delivered by county academia, health clinics and private practice dentists to provide preventive dental care, periodontal care as well as hospital-based urgent care.
