Authorities are crediting a posting on a social media site for the arrest of two men they say stole more than $750 worth of kegs, beer taps and equipment from a Mizner Park bar on St. Patrick’s Day.

“Since we have a very tight-knit local customer base, we’re asking for your help to identify these two thieves,” according to a post on the Kapow! Noodle Bar’s Facebook page. “We would chalk it up to just being drunk and stupid on St. Paddy’s Day, but they were escorted off property earlier that evening” by Mizner Park security.

Kapow! Noodle Bar offered a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of a pair of thieves.

The theft occurred around 2:30 a.m. on March 18, Boca Raton police said. The men entered the back entrance and could be seen in surveillance photos hauling the equipment from the establishment.

“Good News for us… We know everyone,” the Facebook post said. “Bad News for them… We know everyone.”

Someone recognized Jon Gonzalez, 21, in the photos on Facebook and called the Crime Stoppers tip line.

An officer went to Gonzalez’s home in Deerfield Beach but he was at work in Fort Lauderdale. Gonzalez later told police that he and his friend, Bryce Sander, 20, of Pompano Beach, had “blacked out from drinking,” according to the arrest report. Gonzalez also told police that Sandler “was bringing the stuff back,” police said.

Sander told police than when he woke up he saw the equipment but didn’t know where it came from. After seeing the Facebook post, Sander said that he realized the equipment came from Kapow! Noodle Bar and returned it, police said.

Both men were released from the Palm Beach County Jail Saturday after each posted $4,500 bail.
