WEST PALM BEACH, FL (Oct. 22, 2014) – The Young Friends of the Norton Museum of Art will hold its annual Season Kick-Off Party, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014.  The Norton will be closed to the general public, but Young Friends and their guests will enjoy a cocktail reception, music from DJ Ilya Tatarov, and a curator-led tour.

The evening begins with Hope Alswang, Executive Director and CEO, presenting an overview of the wonderful exhibitions, programs, and events at the Museum this season. Following Alswang’s remarks, Tim B. Wride, William & Sarah Ross Soter Curator of Photography, will lead a tour of The Rudin Prize for Emerging Photographers, an exhibition by four international photographers whose work is on the leading edge of contemporary art and photography. A piece from this exhibition will be added to the Museum Collection through the support of the Young Friends Acquisition Fund.

The party includes cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres and is free for Young Friends members, and $35 for guests. However, guests who choose to become a member of the Young Friends can put the cost of admission toward their membership.

The Season Kick-Off Party begins a busy year for the group, including opportunities to mix and mingle while enjoying exclusive curator-led exhibition tours and lectures. Young Friends members benefits also include discounted tickets to the Norton’s Imaging Eden Premiere Cocktail Reception; those joining at the Patron level receive complimentary tickets. The highlight of the Young Friends season is the group’s annual fundraiser, A Midseason Night’s Dream, which helps build the Young Friends Acquisition Fund for the purchase of new artworks for the Museum Collection.
