Drake and Mentor, Lil Wayne to Share Stage September 3 in South Florida

Drake is returning to South Florida, this time the GRAMMY-award winner will be bringing along his good friend, Lil Wayne for a Street Fighter-style showdown.

It was announced in June that the “Drake vs. Lil Wayne” tour will kick off on August 8 at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in New York and will make stop in over a dozen other locations, including Cruzan Amphitheater on September 3.

Drake and Lil Wayne have a long history that began when Wayne called the Canadian-born rapper and signed him to his label. Ever since, Drake has told of his debt to Lil Wayne.

Before the release of his debut EP, So Far Gone, Drake spoke to MTV saying he was “blessed” to have Weezy’s wise words in his ear.

“To be under his wing, to be able to interact with him on a daily basis and talk to him and get information from him, I’m in a blessed position,” Drizzy said. “I have the greatest mentors, the greatest teachers in the world. They all have gradually started to embrace me more and more, so it’s a great feeling.”

Per reviews of other shows, the concert begins with a fan vote of sorts in which the crowd is asked who they want to see first. And the battle goes from there.

South Florida has seen concerts by Drake and Lil Wayne before, but to see these superstars combined in one stage for one night, will be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The “Drake vs. Lil Wayne” concert will be the type of concert that South Florida will be talking about for months to come.
