Boca Ballet’s Swan Lake Mesmerizes Audience

By
On Saturday I attended the beautiful performance of Swan Lake put on by the Boca Ballet at Olympic Heights
High School.  I have been a ballet affectionado since I went to Lincoln Center in New York City to see the
George Ballachine ballet ” Jewels”.
Years ago, when Bob and I first moved to Boca Raton, we attended many of the Boca Ballet events and
got to know Dan Guin, the Artistic Director.  I saw Dan on Saturday evening and he came rushing over
to greet me during the intermission of the show.  I greeted him with the slogan of the Virginia Slims
Commercial of years ago, ” You’ve come along way, Baby!”  The scenery and costumes of this Swan
Lake were wonderful, Dan’s Choreography fabulous, Jane Tyree made a very elegant Queen and
the stars of the show, Odette/Odile, the White and Black Swan, danced by Sara Mearns of the
New York Ballet and Prince Siegfried danced by Simon Bell of the Houston Ballet were stunning.
All received a very worthy standing ovation.  It warms my heart to see the cultural events that Boca Raton
now offers to all of us.
