5 companies that have made Boca Raton their HQs

Numerous corporate companies have turned Boca Raton into their home, which makes their headquarters our neighbors. Here are five companies whose head offices you may have not known reside in Boca.

 

1. The ADT Corporation

The ADT corporation provides residential and small business electronic security, fire protection, and other related alarm monitoring services. ADT was founded in 1874 and was known as the “American District Telegraph.” ADT serves 6.4 million people in 35 countries and has a revenue of $3.2 billion. Even though their headquarters are located in Boca Raton, their monitoring centers are not. They have six across the nation, ensuring 24/7 service through any condition.

2. Office Depot

Office Depot, Inc. is an office supply company that serves in 59 countries with more than 1,900 retail stores. Founded in 1986, Office Depot opened it’s first store at the Lakes Mall in Lauderdale Lakes. Its annual sales reach approximately $17 billion and the company employs about 66,000 associates. In February of 2013, Office Depot announced they would combine with OfficeMax in an all-stock deal, which created the largest office supply chain.

3. GEO Group

The GEO Group is a company specializing in corrections, detention, and mental health treatment. They operate facilities in North America, Australia, South Africa, and the UK.  They have almost 66,000 active patients and in 2012 their average occupancy rate was 95.7%. George Zoley, the company’s founder, graduated from Florida Atlantic University and in February of 2013 gave a $6 million gift to the college. In return, FAU gave GEO Group the naming rights to the football stadium. However, due to protesters, GEO Group withdrew its gift.

4. Advanced Processing & Imaging

Advanced Processing & Imagine is a software developer, document manager, and workflow solution provider for public and private organizations. API is a certified IBM Business Partner and Microsoft Gold Partner. But, API’s headquarters weren’t always in Boca. In 2013 the company began looking for bigger office space to accommodate expansion and growth, which resulted in their transition to Boca Raton.

5. Bluegreen Corporation

Bluegreen Corporation is a timeshare company that provides vacations for more than 170,000 users. Bluegreen has resort, hotel, and cruise connections in three different countries 23 different states, all available through third-party exchange. Originating in Massachusetts, Bluegreen moved to Boca Raton in 1991 due to the poor real estate sales up north. Within six months of the move, the company began to profit. The company also started in land-sale and would develop purchased land into residential and golf course communities until 2012.
