According to CSX, Palmetto Park Road should reopen at approximately 5pm this evening, Tuesday, December 17th.
The road which has been closed since December 13th has gotten a makeover in its railroad section, removing, replacing, and repairing the railroad tracks to make it smoother for cars to drive over it.
Palmetto Park Rd. is open to local traffic up to the tracks, however, detours have been in place. East/West alternate routes included Camino Real and Glades Road. 95 North and South will not be accessible West of the tracks, you were able to access 95 North and South from East of the tracks. Traveling 95 North, you could exit at Palmetto but only go East.
The closing of Palmetto Park during a very busy weekend was a cause of many questioned the city, however, according to the Boca Raton Police Department, this was not a city project.
Residents can now be at ease with the reopening of Palmetto Park this evening at 5pm.
