New Year’s Eve with The Drifters

Boca Raton-based Premier Concert Group continues its cavalcade of stars of the 50’s and 60’s when it brings Charlie Thomas’ Drifters to the Delray Beach Marriott this New Year’s Eve.  The producers promise an evening of dining and dancing to your favorite oldies with the rock and roll legends as well as special guest stars and iconic South Florida radio DJ Jammin’ Jon Sommers.

Charlie Thomas' Drifters“We’ve always loved the Delray Marriott for its excellent cuisine and its prime location,” explains Premier’s Tony Brocco, “so they were our natural choice to host one of the most legendary vocal groups of all-time on the biggest night of the year.”  Brocco and his partner, Joseph Mirrione are also behind the sell-out Pop, Rock & Doo Wopp series at FAU.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and 3-time Grammy Hall of Famer Charlie Thomas is the last original member still performing with his group, who scored with hits like “This Magic Moment”, “Save the Last Dance for Me”, “There Goes My Baby”, “Under the Boardwalk”, “Up On the Roof” and “On Broadway.”  Rolling Stone Magazine recently listed The Drifters as one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All-Time and to date, The Drifters have sold over 114 million albums and 214 million singles.  The group will be performing all their hits in a performance lasting over an hour and encompassing a very special countdown to midnight.  For those hung up on tradition, there will be 2 big screens broadcasting all of the festivities from Times Square when the time comes for the world-famous ball-drop.  “As with all of our events, there will be a surprise guest,” Brocco promises.  “And as usual, it’s someone you’ve seen singing songs you love on the late night PBS doo wopp marathons.”
