Hyatt Plans 13-Story Hotel Downtown

By CRA News Service

BOCA RATON – A 200-room Hyatt Place hotel is slated for downtown near the Mizner Park shopping center and Sanborn Square park, the Boca Raton Tribune has learned.

The Kolter Group has filed an application to build the 146,250-square-foot hotel, parking garage and 8,000-square-foot restaurant at the southeast corner of Federal Highway and Palmetto Park Road. The hotel will be in the middle of the downtown shopping and entertainment area near the Ram Realty project. The Mark at CityScape, an apartment building with street-level retail, is being built on the site.

This will be a boom for tourism downtown, city officials said.

“This would certainly bring a whole new level of visitors to downtown,” CRA manager Ruby Childers said.

A limited access garage will be on the second through fifth floors, a pool will be on the roof and hotel rooms will be from the sixth floor upwards, according to the development application.

This is the third hotel that Hyatt has opened in Palm Beach County over the past five years. In 2009, it opened a Hyatt Place in downtown West Palm Beach and last year, it opened Hyatt Place downtown Delray Beach.
