Boca Raton police shoot man dead; woman’s body found nearby

On Sunday, October 20, 2013, at 6:05 pm, Boca Raton Police Officers were dispatched to a “shots fired” call in the 500 block of South Ocean Blvd, Boca Raton.  When officers arrived they encountered the armed suspect, Ian Burlakoff, in the northbound shoulder of South Ocean Blvd.  Burlakoff failed to follow officers commands and reached for his handgun.  Responding officer discharged his firearm striking Burlakoff.  Burlakoff was pronounced dead on scene.

Immediately following the shooting witnesses advised officers that Ian Burlakoff shot and killed a woman a short distance away. The man died from the gunshot wound in the street in front of the Chalfonte condominium. A short distance away, in an empty lot, police discovered a dead woman, said police spokeswoman Sandra Boonenberg.

The female was identified as Germana Burlakoff. Witnesses advised that they observed Ian shoot and kill Germana.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Violent Crimes Detectives have assumed the homicide investigation as well as the officer involved shooting.
