Boca Raton, FL – On Friday, September 20, just after 4:00 p.m., a resident in the 50 block of SW 9th Avenue reported that some time during the day, an unknown person broke into her home and stole an iPad and 48” Samsung flat screen television. The burglar initially tried to pry a garage impact window and a rear impact slider. Unable to defeat the impact windows, he attempted to smash another rear impact slider and finally succeeded in smashing the glass panel next to the front door. In the process of smashing the window and entering the home, the burglar cut himself, leaving blood throughout the home.
Boca Raton Police detectives assigned to the case narrowed their search for the iPad to an area in Delray Beach, utilizing the tracking software. A resident told the investigators that their neighbor, Darline Garcon, may have the iPad, adding that she recently posted a picture of her new iPad on her Facebook page. Detectives met with Garcon who said she recently purchased the iPad from a client of her employer, Bray-Poole Bail Bonds. According to Garcon, the client, Quincy Boyd, came into her office on Friday, September 20, at about 3:00 p.m. and offered to sell the iPad and a flat screen television. Garcon noticed a fresh cut on Boyd’s hand when she purchased the iPad. Detectives went to Bray-Poole and spoke with Garcon’s boss who confirmed her story and said she was suspicious of Boyd’s story, due to some inconsistencies. Detectives viewed their video which also confirmed their story. Bray-Poole revoked Boyd’s bond due to the information provided by the detectives and brought him to Palm Beach County Jail.
Detectives charged Boyd with burglary, grand theft, criminal mischief, and dealing in stolen property.
