Boca Police Arrest Cell Phone Robber

Boca Raton, FL – On Wednesday, October 2, at 6:00 a.m., a 16 year old victim was waiting for abus at 1401 North Federal Highway when a male grabbed her cell phone out of her hand. About an hour later, her mother called Boca Raton Police to report the crime

chantiloupeAccording to the victim’s mother, her daughter was listening to music on her phone, when she saw a male riding a bicycle in the area. The suspect, later identified as, Akino Chantiloupe, rode north on Federal Highway, through a nearby bank parking lot and then stopped at the bus stop. Chantiloupe said, “Give me your phone” and then snatched the phone out of her hand and rode away south on Federal Highway. The victim was not injured.

The description of the suspect and his bicycle was circulated to the police officers who were working. Several hours later, an officer observed and stopped Chantiloupe, who matched the description and was riding a similarly described bicycle. The officer saw a straight bladed knife sticking out of Chantiloupe’s pants pocket. The officer arrested Chantilouple for carrying a concealed weapon.

Since Chantiloupe matched the robbery suspect’s description, Boca Raton detectives interviewed him. Chantiloupe admitted to stealing the girl’s phone and led detectives to the place where he had stashed it. Detectives also charged him with robbery by sudden snatching.
