Boca Chamber Welcomes Young Entrepreneurs Academy Students Graduating Class of 2014

Boca Raton, Fl. –The Young Entrepreneurs Academy, or YEA!, is  an innovative program that guides students through the process of starting their own real business.  The Boca Chamber and partner FAU Adams Center for Entrepreneurship are excited to announce the start of the Boca Chamber YEA! Program at the FAU College of Business for the 2013-2014 school year.

YEA! is a program of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation, Golden Bell.  It is a groundbreaking program that takes 24 students between the ages of 12 and 18 through the process of starting a launching a real business over the course of an academic year. By the end of the class, students own and operate fully-formed and functioning businesses, which may be carried after their graduation from the program. YEA! aims at teaching students at an early age how to make a job, not just take a job.

Business Partners to date for this year’s program are:  FAU Adams Center for Entrepreneurship, FPL, NCCI, Bluegreen Vacations, First Citizens Bank, Florida Blue Foundation, SunTrust Foundation, Plastridge Insurance, Modernizing Medicine, Saint Andrew’s School, Minuteman Press Boca Raton, and SCORE.

The program requires a nine-month commitment from its young executives.  In that time they brainstorm and form their enterprises, make pitches to potential investors, obtain funding, register their companies with governmental agencies, and actually launch their own company.  Business mentors, graphic designers, and local entrepreneurs support the students throughout the program and all of the learning is real and experiential.
