Suffolk Construction’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament Raises $75,000 for HomeSafe

Boca Raton, FLA. (June 23, 2013) – Nearly 200 construction industry professionals from across the state converged on Trump National Doral to support Suffolk Construction’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament, which raised $75,000 for HomeSafe – a non-profit organization helping victims of child abuse and domestic violence in Palm Beach County. HomeSafe has five locations including Boca Raton, Lake Worth, Belle Glade and two facilities in West Palm Beach.

The 7th annual event, originally developed by Suffolk’s Red & Blue Foundation, included two courses of golf to accommodate the large number of golfers, as well as breakfast and lunch.  As a unique gift item, all players were able to select a pair of their favorite Maui Jim sunglasses along with a customized case.  During the awards ceremony, Dariane Taylor, a recent HomeSafe graduate, gave a touching speech about her challenging childhood and how HomeSafe helped transform her life.  Taylor recently graduated from high school and is enrolled in college to pursue a nursing career.

“Hearing directly from Dariane was special.  It gave our tournament supporters the opportunity to see the true impact of everything HomeSafe does for our community,” said Rex Kirby, President and General Manager of Suffolk Construction.

“Rex Kirby and the employees of Suffolk Construction are truly incredible people doing so much to support HomeSafe’s efforts to protect victims of child abuse and domestic violence, as well as prevent future acts of family violence,” said Matthew Ladika, HomeSafe CEO.  “This first-class event is just one of the many efforts Suffolk Construction does to help build stronger communities in South Florida. We are truly grateful for the company’s ongoing support of HomeSafe.”

To date, the annual event has raised over $500,000 for HomeSafe and other worthwhile South Florida non-profit organizations.

Major event supporters included Platinum sponsors Acousti Engineering Company of Florida and Kirlin Florida, LLC.  Gold sponsors included All American Glass, GM&P Consulting, Cailis Mechanical, Coastal Masonry, B&I Contractors, HJ Foundation, Johnson Controls, KAR & Larrabee Mechanical Contractors, KHS&S, Pomeroy Electric, Power Design, Sprinklermatic, ThyssenKrupp, and Unlimited Elevators.
