Christina Philipp, age 17, a senior at Spanish River High School was the winner.  “I’m so overwhelmed with joy that I won.  I’ve loved art since I was a baby and have always wanted to be an animator,” said Christina.

The competition was made up 45 high school senior students in a one-day, two-round art competition.

·         A panel of DMAC faculty were the judges.

·         One full Undergraduate Scholarship will be awarded towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design or Computer Animation: worth $70,000.

·         2nd place gets $20,000 and 3rd place gets $15,000.

The first round of the competition was a Still Life drawing.  The students could only use pencils and were judged on understanding of line, value, volume, and texture in their artwork.  The second round dealt with a current events theme, which this was about Disney buying George Lucas’ Star Wars properties.

Sunny Sharma, President of Digital Media Arts College said, “It’s a wonderful event that provides opportunities to the top artistic students around.  The talent this year was impressive, which makes Christina’s work simply amazing.  We look forward to watching her art grow on our campus.”
