BOCA RATON – A West Boca Raton woman was arrested Dec. 12 on charges stemming from a car crash in March that killed two people, said a report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
PBSO said Joanne Luu, 20, was arrested on warrants charging her with two counts of DUI manslaughter and two counts of vehicular homicide.
According to reports, Luu was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in a March 9 crash that killed Angelina Ferrarella, 85, and Donna Dangelo, 54, both of West Raton. The crash occurred that evening at Sandalfoot Boulevard and State Road 7.
According to the PBSO report, Luu was traveling north on State Road 7 at about 8 p.m. when her 2003 BMW collided with a 2001 Toyota making a left turn onto Sandalfoot Boulevard. Luu’s car struck the passenger side of the Toyota. Ferrarella and Dangelo were both passengers in the Toyota.
Two other occupants of the Toyota sustained serious injuries, the PBSO report said. It also alleges that Luu failed to stop for a red light.
