Boca Raton, FL – On Wednesday, November 7 at about 4:25 p.m., members of the Boca Raton Police Department’s Tactical Team were on routine patrol when they saw a black Ford rental car with dark tinted windows pull into the Chevron gas station, 801 West Yamato Road. South Florida burglary suspects commonly rent vehicles and have a dark tint applied to the outside of the windows to obscure the occupants.
The driver of the Ford, later identified as Sidney Flerme, twice went into the store and then drove out of the parking lot without ever getting gas. Officers followed the vehicle and saw that Flerme did not stop completely before entering Yamato Road. As officers attempted to stop the Flerme for this traffic infraction, he quickly accelerated, driving over the median to make a u-turn onto eastbound Yamato Road. Flerme was weaving in and out of traffic and crashed into several different cars before stopping in the 600 block of West Yamato Road. Flerme and the passenger, identified as Felix Henricy, fled on foot. During a short foot chase, officers saw Flerme and Henricy each throw several items away, which turned out to be a loaded handgun, reported stolen to PBSO, a revolver, and a baggie which contained an as yet unidentified white powder. When officers searched the Ford, they found marijuana on the driver’s seat and front floor, a clear plastic baggie which contained 89 Alprazolam pills, 76 Oxycodone pills, and a small amount of crack cocaine, and a digital scale.
Officers arrested Flerme and Henricy and charged them with the following: resisting an officer; carrying a concealed weapon during the commission of a felony; tampering with evidence; possession of cocaine, a schedule II substance, and schedule IV substance; possession with intent to sell cocaine, a schedule II substance, and a schedule IV substance within 1000 feet of a convenient store; trafficking a controlled substance; possession of marijuana; and possession of paraphernalia. Flerme was also charged with fleeing and eluding and leaving the scene of an accident. Henricy was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and grand theft of a firearm.
