A Postponed PROPEL Golf Classic at New Location Nov. 8

By Skip Sheffield

The fourth annual PROPEL Golf Classic will be held at a new location: Boca Country Club, 17757 Boca Club Blvd. (off Congress Ave.), Boca Raton on Thursday, Nov. 8. This is a rescheduled date from the originally-planned Oct. 25.

“We were forced to cancel because of Hurricane Sandy,” said PROPEL board president Matthew Kutcher. “The safety of our participants is more important than anything else.”

The casual, friendly charity golf tournament is the most important yearly fund-raising event for PROPEL (People Reaching Out to Provide Education and leadership), a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization founded nine years ago. PROPEL serves Palm Beach and northern Broward County’s economically-challenged communities and their economically disadvantaged and at-risk youth.

Real Estate broker Ingrid Fulmer serves on the PROPEL Board of directors. She co-chairs this year’s Golf Classic with Matt Kutcher, who also serves as PROPEL Board President.

“The annual golf tournament is PROPEL’s most significant fundraising event,” explained Fulmer. “Proceeds from the event have enabled us to award scholarships and to provide valuable resources to our many deserving PROPEL youths. We are working very hard to make the fourth annual PROPEL Golf Classic the most successful event ever. We are excited to be at the beautiful Boca Country Club this year. They have a great course and they have been very cooperative.”

PROPEL began awarding college scholarships two years ago, administered through George Snow Scholarship Fund. Thanks to the success of last year’s tournament at Boca Lago, PROPEL was able to award four scholarships this year. PROPEL funds are also used for educational materials, mission trips, camping and other activities for youth.

The golf tournament is also a time for fun and camaraderie. Back for a second year will be the costumed girls from Biergarten, serving thirsty golfers.

“Come join us for a fun day of golf, food and friendship, says Matthew Kutcher. “Golf is followed by drinks and hors d’oeuvres in the beautiful clubhouse of Boca Country Club. We will have a silent and live auction with many great items that have been donated. The best part is it is that it is all for a good cause.”

Individual players are invited to sign up for $250, or you can have a foursome for $1,000. Fees are tax-deductible contributions. Call Matt Kutcher at 561-704-4648 or go to www.propelyourfuture.com.
