Wayne Barton Center to Sponsor Annual “Back to School Jam”

BOCA RATON – It’s almost time for students to get back to class for the new academic year.

With that in mind, the Wayne Barton Study Center and the Boca West

Foundation are helping thousands of children in need to prepare for school days that begin in Palm Beach County on Aug.20.

Barton will hold his annual “Back to School Jam” Saturday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wayne Barton Study Center, 269 NE 14th St., Boca Raton.

The “Back to School Jam” will ensure that all children are afforded an opportunity to have backpacks, school supplies and health exams that include physicals, immunizations and eye exams and vital information provided by various organizations within the community.

Wayne Barton CEO and founder of the study center, said, “We worry about what a child will become tomorrow yet we forget that he/she is someone today”.

He said many children began the first day of school without the basic necessities to have a successful academic year due to the family’s inability to provide the resources that are required by many school districts; in essence they are behind before school even begins.

Every child who attends the “Jam” will receive a grade appropriate backpack filled with the required school supplies; haircuts and hairstyles, sports physicals and eye exams.

Food, music and games will also be provided. Call 561-620-6203 for information.

Barton’s Boosters Inc. is the vision behind The Wayne Barton Study Center, he said. “We focus on the health, welfare and education of children in Palm Beach County and the surrounding areas.

Barton is on a mission to improve academic achievement for students by developing and implementing educational programs at his study center.  He wants to ensure that no child is without the proper tools needed to succeed, not only in the classroom but in their everyday lives.

High school graduation is the expectation of the study center; a college education is the goal.
