The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to be careful when driving through school zones, now that classes for the 2012-2013 academic year have begun.
PBSO began its Selective Traffic Enforcement Program for School Zones this past Monday, the first day of school. The purpose is to provide a safe environment for all school age children, parents, teachers and the citizens of Palm Beach County that drive or walk through the various school zones.
Traffic enforcement will include: speed enforcement, parking enforcement, bicycle helmet enforcement and items related to student, teacher, parent and motoring public safety. This applies to areas around all elementary and middle schools from 7 to 9 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office notes that fines for speeding citations in school zones range from $156 to $606
