Delray Medical, Keiser University partner for OR nurse training program

DELRAY BEACH- Delray Medical Center announces the graduation of six nurses who completed their training to become operating room nurses.  With the help of Workforce Alliance and Keiser University, Delray Medical Centers elected six qualified, interested nurses for the 15-week program. It is the only training program of its type in the area.

Mark Bryan, chief executive officer of Delray Medical Center, said he could not be more thrilled with the partnership between Delray and Keiser University.  “We are always committed to enhancing the wonderful staff we have here at Delray, so by teaming up with Keiser University, we are able to continue this,”Bryan said.

With the addition of the new nurses,Delray Medical Center now has a total of 37 OR-specialized nurses on staff.  Job openings for OR nurses are not easy to fill due to the extensive amount of expertise one would need to assist surgeons with their procedures.  However, Chief Nursing Officer Jennifer Chiusano said she remains confident. “I am so excited that this program has succeeded and will go on to maintain a steady stream of OR nurses for the hospital,” she said.

For more than 25 years,Delray Medical Center, a 493-bed acute care hospital, has served the communities of South Palm Beach County. As both a community hospital and Provisional Level I Trauma Center located on a 42-acre medical plaza, Delray Medical Center has the ability to offer several specialized services including cardiac care, orthopedics, rehabilitation, neurosciences, emergency care and more.

The hospital is actively involved in community outreach, sponsoring several events, community lectures and fundraisers. Delray Medical Center is also a smoke free campus.
