FAU Athletics Golf Tournament Raises More Than $50,000 for Student-Athlete Scholarships

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University athletics department recently hosted its seventh annual golf tournament fundraiser at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach. More than 40 foursomes participated in the tournament, which raised more than $50,000 for athletics scholarships. This is the fourth tournament FAU has hosted at Trump International.

“We truly appreciate the support of our generous sponsors and participants, who contributed to the tournament’s success once again this year,” said FAU President Mary Jane Saunders. “The biggest challenge many students face in furthering their education is the cost, and these scholarships will help FAU recruit the most outstanding student-athletes, and help them attain their scholarly goals.”

Ed Tinari served as chair of the tournament. Hosts included head football coachCarl Pelini, head men’s basketball coach Mike Jarvis, new head women’s basketball coach Kellie Lewis-Jay, and head baseball coach John McCormack.

The event included a luncheon, afternoon tee time and awards reception. Participants also had an opportunity to bid on a variety of items in silent and live auctions, including sports memorabilia, sideline passes for FAU football games, vacations and golf packages.
The 2013 tournament is scheduled for Thursday, May 9 at Trump International. For more information, contact the FAU athletics department at 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
