Boca Festival Days Guarantees a Fun Month of Community-building Events

BOCA RATON – Boca Festival Days 2012 is a series of fun-filled events held at different locations in the greater Boca Raton area during the month of August.

The Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce (GBRCC) helps to facilitate these events that are created and run by a pairing of non-profit members with for-profit members to raise funds and awareness for the non-profit organizations during their specific Boca Festival Days event.

All month long, residents of Boca Raton will travel from event to event, participating in everything that is great about this city – from the smaller events to the grand!

July 30th: 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
The Second Annual WHITE COATS 4-CARE RECEPTION & VIP Lecture
Embracing Florida’s Future Physicians at FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine In Celebration of its 2nd Medical School Class Sponsored by Kaye Communications, Inc. and Hosted by The Bridge Hotel

KidSafe Seminar    Presented by NCCI and KidSafe Foundation, Inc.
Where: NCCI (901 Peninsula Corporate Circle, Boca Raton)
Learn how to protect the ones you love at this important lunchtime informational seminar. Raise your awareness about how all children and teens are at risk – from sexual abuse, bullying, and internet dangers. Just one hour will arm you with powerful information. After all, prevention is the best defense.

The Return of Caddyshack
Presented by Ascendent Planned Giving and Boca Raton Museum of Art Where: Boca Raton Museum of Art (501 Plaza Real, Boca Raton)
Tee off at the 2012 Boca Festival Days with a hole-in-one! The Museum is exchanging brush strokes for club strokes at Big art: Mini golf. Novices and experienced golfers can enjoy the city’s first air-conditioned golf course, with creative holes as Tiger Woods; Hard to Swallow; Toward the Black Hole; and Chasm.

Honorable Men in Uniform – Cocktail Party
Presented by Morton’s the Steak House and G. W. Bailey First Responders Charitable Fund
Where: Morton’s the Steak House, Boca Raton (5050 Town Center Circle, Suite 219, Boca Raton) The G.W. Bailey First Responders Charitable Fund raises dollars for paramedic training and education. The G.W. Bailey Fund will be hosting Firefighters bartending for a cause. We will be raising dollars to help students with their education costs and training. FondueRaiser at the Melting Pot
Presented by First Citizens Bank and Boca Raton Regional Hospital Lynn Cancer Institute Where: The Melting Pot Restaurant (5455 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton)
Drop by for fondue, cocktails or a glass of wine. Funds raised will support local cancer patients directly.

2nd Annual Cocktails for a Cause
Presented by Blue Martini and Jewish Association for Residential Care (JARC)
Where: Blue Martini (6000 Glades Road, Suite C-1380, Boca Raton)
This fun-filled happy hour event will benefit JARC Florida and the programs they offer to developmentally disabled adults within the community.  Admission includes entrance to a VIP area, (2) drink tickets per person to include: house wine, bottle beer or a premium cocktail. Guests can also utilize their two drinks tickets for (1) specialized martini valued at $12.00.  Hand passed appetizers will be offered to guests along with raffles and more. In addition, Blue Martini’s happy hour prices will be in effect till 8pm with ½ price drinks and appetizers available for purchase.

Health and Fitness EXPO for Whole Family
Presented by Youth Operation Fitness in Training – YOFIT, Fitwize 4 Kids and Joe DiMaggio’s U18 Sports Medicine
Where: FITWIZE 4 KIDS (9705 W. Sample Road, Coral Springs) U18 Sports will be there talking about how to prevent an injury etc, Coach Henry L. McNabb, co-director of Brandon Knight (NBA Star) skills clinic camp and the owner of Elite Basketball Training will be available to answer all questions and provide the dates for upcoming Basketball Camps. Stations to learn about nutrition, anti-bullying. Dr.Lorne Katz will be present to talk to the parents about kids obesity and how to prevent it. We will provide information on Body Composition, (Weight, Body Fat & water percentage) for those who would like to know and grow chart for kids. 2 football players (Stoker McDougle, Rod Payne) and 2 Boxer champions will be at the event. “PAW”ty Time for the Tri County Humane Society

2nd Annual ‘So You Think You Can Sing?  Karaoke Contest
Presented by the Dubliner Irish Pub and Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation. Where: Dubliner Irish Pub in Mizner Park (435 Plaza Real, Boca Raton) The winner receives a $250 cash prize and all associated bragging rights.  There will also be raffle prizes and a performance by Hospice of Palm Beach County’s music therapists. Proceeds go to benefit the organization’s Music Therapy program.
Entry: Cost to attend the event and cheer favorite singers is $20 per person, which includes a complimentary drink and buffet provided by the Dubliner Irish Pub. Entry for contestants is an additional $10.00

Eat to Beat Cancer – A Diamond Jubilee
Presented by The Pap Corps and Royal Palm Place.

Celebrating 60 years of The Pap Corps and the Boca Chamber! Participating restaurants will donate 20% of their dinner proceeds to The Paps Corps for their Eat to Beat Cancer fundraiser.
