“Moon over Buffalo” to be performed Friday, May 4 at 7 pm and Saturday, May 5 at 8 pm. West Boca High

BOCA RATON – Since its debut in November of 2011 to overwhelming success, West Boca High School’s Drama Department has been asked over and over to bring an encore performance of Ken Ludwig’s comedy Moon over Buffalo, directed by Lance Blank, back to audiences!

And they have. Performances will be presented May 4-5 at West Boca High School.

The story begins with over-the-hill repertory thespians George and Charlotte Hay touring the backwaters of Buffalo, NY in 1953, the end of an era.  Touring classical repertory is no longer in fashion, and George and Charlotte are touring with tired versions of Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives.

The road shows that draw large crowds now are large musicals preferably with star names! But George and Charlotte still carry on, despite the dwindling audiences and their inappropriate roles as young lovers.  But fortune has given them one more shot at stardom, as they learn that Frank Capra is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance and consider casting them in his next movie, The Scarlet Pimpernel epic!

Meanwhile, a domestic crisis drives George to drink, new and ex-lovers appear, and hilarious misunderstandings and madcap adventures ensue in this farce filled with twists and turns, collisions and mistaken identities, miscommunications, slapstick antics, terrifying swordplay and five doors!

Tickets are $15 for all shows. Call the box office for reserved seats at 561-672-2066 or come to the box office starting one hour before curtain.  All shows are at West Boca High School’s Performing Arts Theatre, 3 ½ miles west of 441 on Glades Road.   For more information contact Cheryl Crout 561-672-2064 or email cheryl.crout@palmbeaschools.org.
