Breathe Restaurant Hosts Event to Benefit 100 + Abandoned Dogs

DELRAY BEACH — When Sylvie Benloulou, manager of Breathe Restaurant and Ultra Lounge in Delray Beach, heard about the hundreds of South Florida dogs heartlessly abandoned and desperately in need of help, she decided to do something.

Known for the parties she threw at Bova Ristorante in Boca Raton and Bova Prime in Fort Lauderdale, she is creating a fundraiser at her new venue to benefit 100 + Abandoned Dogs of Everglades, Florida.  The event, Cocktails for Canines, will be held Thursday, May 3 from 7-9 pm. Tickets include a complimentary cocktail and passed appetizers. The price is $20 for advanced purchase tickets at www.breatheindelray.com/cocktailsforcanines, or $25 at the door.

“I met Amy Restucci, founder of 100 + Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida, and her stories were absolutely heartbreaking,” said Benloulou, a long-time animal advocate. “To know that people just throw their pets out of their cars and leave them to become sick and die, was absolutely unfathomable. So I wanted to raise awareness and funds so her organization can continue to do their incredible rescue work. My goal is to really get all the pet lovers of South Florida united during this night so we can get these dogs the medical treatment and loving homes they deserve.”

“I really appreciate Breathe Restaurant hosting this event for us,” said Restucci, a West Palm Beach resident who works with the 501 (c)3 Be Kind to Animals Rescue as one of her community partners. “We are desperately in need of funds, volunteers and veterinarians to help us. The situation is quite dire. I see countless dogs on my rescues, so many have been abandoned and they are having puppies as well. The dogs are emaciated, bitten by snakes, ill and many are now being taken to be part of dog fighting rings.”

“We are in need of many things,” said Restucci. “Including dog food, flea and tick medication, medical supplies, spay and neuter mobile trucks and vets who will donate their services.”
