Brain Shriver named NASL Offensive Player of the Week

By: Orlando Greenwald

Strikers’ forward Brain Shriver’s two-goal effort against  FC Edmonton on Saturday night at Lockhart Stadium did not go unnoticed. The North Amrican Soccer League named Shriver the Offensive Player of the week.

Having scored in the 14th minute from a cross by Abe Thompson to the near post, and then striking again in the 75th minute with a top corner shot, his play was noticed throughout the league.

“Brian had a very good week of training and the game was a reward for that,” said Head Coach Daryl Shore. “His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball when he was in good spots and he took his chances well. He deserved this honor this past week.”

This isn’t the first time Shriver scored two goals in a game; he also scored twice on June 11th against the Minnesota Stars.

The two goals on Saturday give Shriver a total of four goals this season, which is good enough for 2nd on the team, behind Eduardo Coudet who has six goals.
