Tri County shelter treating abandoned, starved Chihuahua

BOCA RATON – The Tri County Humane Society hopes to nurse back to health a two-pound Chihuahua found on SW 64th Street in Boca Raton by some children.

“He was being eaten by ants,” said Tri County Founder and CEO Jeannette Christos. “He was under a tree, whimpering.”

“Starving and emaciated with sores all over his body due to the ant bites, he is getting the best care possible at Tri County. He just ate a bowl of warm chicken, but is still too weak to stand,” Christos said.

“The person who did this, which we will probably never know as there was no microchip or identification, should be charged with animal cruelty,” she added.

“We are going to do everything possible so he survives. We estimate his age to be between six and eight years old.”
