Marsha Heller to visit Gallery 22 for open house

Boca Raton’s finest sculptor-Yaacov Heller-presents “Shimmering Colors and Musical Expression,” an exhibition by a renowned artist and his sister, Marsha Heller. The open house will take place  on January 13th at Yaacov’s fine art shop, Gallery 22, from five to nine pm.

Marsha Heller was recently selected as one of the Art History Channel’s 21st Century Artists and will have her encaustic work shown in the group’s online gallery next Spring.

“Born in Clevelan in 1929 into a family of artists-,mother, aunts, uncles, sister, and brother, Yaacov Heller, I naturally decided to become a musician. I studied at Oberlin in Ohio, Salzburg Mozarteum, and New York with the Magnificentoboist and painter, Harold Gomberg.”

“As My career as an oboist flourished and I won the Concert Artist’s guild competition, I began to design fliers and posters for my recitals. I went to the School of Visual Arts to learn techniques of graphic design , and then to painting class with Irving Marantz at NYU. Veering toward a visual expression of my creativity has allowed a new freedom to soar in my music-making. I like to let certain subjects in my paintings shimmer, as certain notes in a melody vibrate, lighting up canvas or phrase from within. My landscapes celebrate the sensuality of nature as I find her in the crannies and corners of my garden in Leonka, as well as out of the way spots encountered in my travels as a musician. I want my paintings to bring sunshine to the rooms in which they hang just as I hope my music will lighten the lives of those who listen,” said Marsha Heller.
