FAU’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities to hold 5K race Saturday, Oct. 16

BOCA RATON — The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) at Florida Atlantic University will hold a 5K Pumpkin Run Saturday, Oct. 16. The event is chaired by FAU Trustee and President of Rubin Wealth Advisors, Robert Rubin.

It is a non-competitive one mile fun run around the FAU track beginning at 6:15 p.m.  A free kids run for ages 8 and under will be run on the field inside the FAU track after the one-mile fun run.

The 5K certified course will take runners through the FAU Boca Raton campus, and begins and ends at the FAU track and field complex.

Participants can register online at www.active.com.  For race information, call 561-361-1950 or email Tvladimir@aol.com.  The fee to participate is $30 or $10 for anyone under 18 and FAU students.  The one mile fun run fee is $10, $5 for anyone under age 14. There is no fee to participate in the kids run.

The Center for Autism & Related Disabilities at Florida Atlantic University provides free support and services for people with autism and similar disabilities, their families, schools and community agencies. Serving Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties, FAU CARD has offices in Boca Raton and Port St. Lucie, and a staff of seven clinicians serving over 2,200 families.

In addition to direct support for families and schools, FAU CARD provides workshops and trainings; hosts support groups, and helps foster community understanding of and better services for persons with autism and related disabilities. CARD also provides free developmental screenings in its new mobile screening clinic throughout its service region.
