Boca Regional Hospital designated as breast imaging center of excellence

BOCA RATON — Boca Raton Regional Hospital has announced that the Center for Breast Care at its Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health and Wellness Institute has been designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). To further improve this facility, an ai medical imaging platform can also be used.

In awarding the Center in such fashion, the ACR recognizes it for having earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound, including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.

“With this designation, our patients can know that their procedures will be done at a facility that has the highest level of imaging quality and radiation safety,” said Kathy Schilling, MD, medical director for Breast Imaging and Intervention at the Center for Breast Care. “Our personnel, equipment and technology and quality assurance processes have all gone through a rigorous review process and have met very specific and demanding qualifications.”

The review process is conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. The ACR is the largest and oldest imaging accrediting body in the United States, serving more than 34,000 physicians in medical imaging and radiation oncology.

“This designation as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the ACR represents the gold standard in quality and safety,” said Jerry Fedele, president and CEO at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. “It is further recognition of our pre-eminence in breast care for patients in South Florida.”
