Boca Raton Regional Hospital appoints new director for clinical integration and performance excellence

Boca Raton Regional Hospital today announced the appointment of Edye Cleary, RN, MPA, as Director for Clinical Integration and Performance Excellence, effective September 13, 2010. In this position, Cleary will oversee the continuous improvement processes that facilitate the achievement of superior performance on nationally recognized quality of care indicators and evidence-based clinical outcomes. She also will be responsible for maintaining the highest standard of patient safety, and overseeing Boca Regional’s ongoing adherence to regulations set forth by state and federal agencies and accreditation organizations.

“We are pleased to appoint Ms. Cleary to this very important position,” says Ed Hannah, chief nursing officer for Boca Raton Regional Hospital. “We are fortunate to have someone with her depth and breadth of experience leading our efforts to strengthen Boca Regional’s position as the region’s preferred provider of high quality, efficient and effective healthcare services.”

Cleary began her healthcare career at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston where she served as a staff nurse, unit educator and nurse manager in intermediate care and surgical/neurological trauma. Cleary has served in various leadership positions that include director of clinical quality improvement and administrative director for patient care services as well as an independent quality and performance improvement consultant. Cleary’s leadership experiences have been in tertiary medical centers similar in size and scope of services to that of Boca Regional. She has been instrumental in many of these organizations receiving quality and performance improvement awards.

Ms. Cleary earned her diploma in nursing from Jackson Memorial School of Nursing in 1988.  She secured her bachelor of science in political science and master of public administration both from Florida Atlantic University (FAU).  Cleary is currently a doctoral candidate in the School of Public Administration at FAU and is completing research for her dissertation in health policy analysis. She is a member of the National Association for Healthcare Quality, the American Society for Quality and the American Society for Public Administration. Cleary has her Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence certification.
