Palm Beach Opera Adds Verdi Requiem to Season

Palm Beach Opera is thrilled to announce the addition of a one-night-only performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem to the 2010-2011 season on January 16, 2011 at 4:00pm at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.  Ticket prices range from $20 – $125 and will be available starting October 2, 2010 through the Palm Beach Opera Box Office at 561.833.7888 or online at www.pbopera.org.

World-famous mezzo soprano Dolora Zajick will lead the quartet of internationally renowned soloists and Maestro Bruno Aprea will conduct the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra and Chorus which will be joined by selected guest choruses to form a 150-voice massed chorus.  “The Verdi Requiem packs the maximum of human passion and man’s ‘need for a greater force’ into emotionally charged and almost overwhelming music”, Palm Beach Opera’s General Director Daniel Biaggi says. “By adding the Verdi Requiem, we create even more programmatic variety and contrast in our 10-11 season, and continue to bring world-class artists to Palm Beach while uniting the local community in music. This will be a highlight of the season, an absolute must-see event.”

A Gala Dinner with the Artists honoring Requiem sponsor, Helen K. Persson will follow the concert.  The Gala Dinner, chaired by Elizabeth Bowden will take place at the Cohen Pavilion. Tickets to include premium concert seating and dinner are $375 per person. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 561.835.7569 or events@pbopera.org.
