Miami Dolphins to kick off season with pep rally Thursday at Amphitheater in Boca

BOCA RATON – The city of Boca Raton and the Miami Dolphins invite the South Florida community and all Dolphins’ fans to downtown Boca Thursday, Aug. 12, for the first official Dolphins’ pep rally of the 2010 season.

The event, to be held at the Mizner Park Amphitheater from 5:30 to 7 p.m., will include a special joint fan program news announcement. Presented by the city of Boca Raton, the rally is free and open to the public.

Fans will be able to celebrate the kick-off of the 2010 Miami Dolphins season — billed as the South Florida’s Biggest Party —with city of Boca Raton officials, Miami Dolphins’ CEO Mike Dee, team alumni, Dolphins cheerleaders, TD the mascot, Fins Force and hundreds of “finatics”.

Kids of all ages will also have fun with a 20-foot Dolphin player air dancer, bronze player statue performer, stilt walkers, power skippers, Dolphins bounce house and Dolphins quarterback toss.  They will also receive giveaways as well as enjoy special games and activities. There will be great music, entertainment, and photo opportunities for attendees and an array of food vendors.

“We are so pleased to host the Miami Dolphins and welcome the greater South Florida community and all Dolphins fans to our vibrant downtown Boca,” said Mayor Susan Whelchel.  “In addition to cheering on our South Florida home team, pep rally attendees will enjoy discovering all that is downtown Boca, from great restaurants, shopping, cultural offerings, parks, business community, nightlife and family fun.”

“The residents of Boca Raton have long been among our most ardent and passionate fans,” said Mike Dee, Dolphins’ CEO.  “We appreciate the entire city rolling out the orange carpet for us as we partner together on this event and more this season.”
