BOCA RATON — Raising awareness and raising funds are the goals for Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D) as it seeks individual and corporate sponsors for its upcoming Record-A-Thon to be held April 23-25, 2010 at the RFB&D studio in Boca Raton.

The national 501(c) 3 non-profit organization is the largest nonprofit educational library of audio textbooks for students with a visual impairment, learning disability or other physical disability that makes reading standard textbooks difficult or impossible. The Boca Raton studio is located on the Florida Atlantic University campus in Boca Raton, in the Gladys Davis Pavilion, Building 49.

The Record-A-Thon will encourage guest volunteers to read for a half hour to record books for RFB&D students.

“We hope to increase our volunteer base by inviting the public to experience our recording studio in an open house format,” said Sonia Hedrick, production director for RFB&D.  “It is very rewarding to help students read and excel through our recorded audio textbooks program.”

The Record-A-Thon will also generate much-needed funding for the program through pledges and sponsorships, she said.

Currently the RFB&D studio houses four recording booths. There is room for three additional booths which will allow more volunteer readers to record at once. RFB&D is seeking corporate and individual sponsors for the Record-A-Thon, and has a goal to raise $25,000 for the year to expand and continue its programs.

Sponsorship levels include:

$3,000 Title Sponsor

$2,000 Book Sponsorship

$1,500 Booth Sponsor

$500 Event T-Shirt Sponsor

$300 Event Sponsor

All sponsorships are tax deductible and include a variety of promotional benefits.
