BOCA RATON – Mayor Susan Whelchel presented presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin with the Key to the City following the notable visitor’s speech March 8 that was part of Festival of the Arts BOCA.
Whelchel said the presentation was in “recognition of her stellar career, her contribution to our historical perspective and her continued support of the Festival of the Arts BOCA.
“Boca Raton is so fortunate to be home to one of the most outstanding cultural events in the southeast, and, once again, the Festival of the Arts BOCA has an exceptional line up. This year’s Festival is sure to be a great success. That will be due in no small part to Doris and her husband Richard who are the Festival’s Distinguished Writers in Residency,” said Charlie Siemon, festival chair.”
“We are particularly thrilled and honored to welcome Ms. Goodwin to our city again,” he added. “To have a figure of her distinction in residence for the entire Festival is a privilege for the whole community.”
